Committee Volunteer Opportunities

  • Building Committee

    Assists with the planning and implementing FHFH construction projects.  The tasks include obtaining house plans, soliciting professional help and donations of building materials, coordinating volunteers, and supervising construction.

  • Public Relations Committee

    Advocating, educating and informing, the public regarding the mission and purpose of FHFH; the need for affordable housing and the ability for seniors to remain in their homes, and the steps being taken to meet this need. The tasks to be coordinated by this committee may include public speaking, communicating with the news/social media, and publishing a periodic newsletter.

  • Family Selection Committee

    Work with the team to screen and interview applicants to ensure they meet the home selection criteria, their current need for adequate housing, ability to repay the home mortgage and willingness to partner with FHFH. Making applicant recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval as prospective homeowners.

  • Family Partnership Committee

    Provide Habitat homeowners and prospective homeowners with a mutual support system, educational opportunities, and a forum for discussions pertaining to home ownership and maintenance. Partnering with a new family for their first year of homeownership to help the new homeowner stay on budget, plans for the future, basic home maintenance and being a good neighbor.

  • Faith Relations Committee

    Help bring an increasing number of faith groups into the work of FHFH and keeping the faith groups informed of FHFH’S progress and prayer needs.  Represent your faith community to act as a liaison to share activities, needs and prayer requests between your faith community and Habitat.

  • Fundraising Committee

    Assist in the planning and coordination of fundraising activities to further our mission. The tasks to be coordinated by this committee include fund raising campaigns, special fundraising events, and cultivation of major donors. 

  • Volunteer Committee

    Help recruit and retain volunteers needed by FHFH and coordinating committee and special project needs for volunteers.  The tasks to be carried out by this committee shall include maintaining the volunteer database and mailing list, providing clerical support, and providing liaison to other committees as need

  • Rhody Run Committee

    A Rhody Run Volunteer Committee member helps plan, organize, and support the annual Rhody Run during the Rhododendron Festival, coordinating activities for the 5K and 10K community fundraising event.

  • Women Build Committee

    A Women Build committee member helps plan and coordinate the Women Build event, including scheduling, project selection, shirt colors, marketing ideas, and materials. They also assist in organizing the Women Build Brunch.
