The work crew for Florence Habitat builds every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, from 8:30 am to about 2:00 pm. New volunteers are invited to join any work day.
Current Work in Progress
Keener Place - In mid-March 2010 construction began on Florence Habitat for Humanity's 17th house, the first in its new 10-home Keener Place tract, located at 15th and Nopal Streets in Florence. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Saturday, February 20th, for the Libby Rodriguez family home. Construction of the house was complete and a community-wide open house was held on Saturday, August 21. A dedication ceremony was held the following weekend as the community celebrated with Libby and her family, as they officially became new homeowners. A groundbreaking ceremony for the next Habitat homes, #18 & #19, was held on August 7. Additional Habitat homes will be built in Keener Place along the newly completed extension of Nopal Street.
Seventh and Laurel - We recently completed construction of the three townhouses at 7th and Laurel. Go and take a look! We are very proud of these two-story, three bedroom houses. There are no common walls. The individual homeowners also own the land, as each townhouse sits on its own city lot. There are two-car carports in the rear, opening onto a shared driveway.
