Florence Habitat for Humanity has been building homes since 1999.

Homeowners contribute 300 to 500 hours of "sweat equity" on their own homes.

"Sweat equity" is learning to dig trenches, pound nails, install sheetrock, paint walls, and help another Habitat homeowner build a home.

Homeowners have a no interest, 30-year mortgage.

Average Habitat families earn $16,400 to $32,800 per year while average Florence homes sell for $238,000.

Average cost of materials is approximately $57,000 per unit and is possible thanks to generous donations from this community.
